Bernie Williams
|
|
I like this picture of Bernie Williams. I took it in Toronto at the game against the Blue Jays on August 5th. Please enlarge it.
College is starting to get intimidating. I go in for Urban Plunge on thursday and then orientation stuff starts. I go back and forth between being excited and terrified. My emotions are confusing me. That's why I'm not posting too much lately... lots of stuff going on. Friends are all leaving for far away places and it's really sad. I don't really know what to feel right now. I need to clean my desk.

Sorry if it seems that I have fallen off the face of the earth. My computer had to go in to be fixed because there was a column of burnt-out pixels across the height of the screen and it was only about 3 weeks old! After it got fixed, I found myself unable to upload pictures to fotopages from it. Only now have I discovered that this was not a fault of the computers but a fault of my own, seeing as the pictures I was trying to upload were about 3 MB each...
So after some cropping and compressing, here are some more pictures from the game in Toronto on August 5th. I am so behind on posting and have so many pictures to show you all! But I suppose that is the very least of my problems

My dad and I went to Canada from Thursday until Saturday (this morning) for a SABR baseball convention. He gave a really great presentation and we got to attend meetings and see the Yankees/Blue Jays game. So many Yankees fans in Canada... who knew?

Mets Baseball
|
|
On Saturday, July 23, my ad and I went to Shea to see the LA Dodgers play the Mets. Pedro was pitching so it was pretty exciting and the Mets ended up winning in the end event hough they got off to a pretty slow start. Everybody there was decked out in Mets paraphernalia and I sat there in my Yankees hat. And not one person attacked me.
dottedstripes: Please observe me going to a Mets game! I love the Yankees like anything but over any team, I'm a baseball fan. If you give me tickets to see the Red Sox, I'll gladly take them. Anything to see a game
Anyone here familiary with the Hollywood Stock Exchange? I've been playing for about 3 years now and it's so fun. You basically get to buy moviestocks (with fake money of course) and it works like a really stock exchange: prices correspond to millions of dollars of theater grossage. You basically predict how well a movie will do at the box office and buy into it if you think it will do better than the price is at that moment. Eveyone starts out with H$2 million (it's H$, not really $ so it's all imaginary money) and I'm up to H$22.2 million already! If only it were REAL money... then I'd be so much more excited! You should all go and check it out! If you sign up, put jersey1113 as the person who referred you and I get at extra H$100,000! Of course, you don't HAVE to, but it would be so nice, wouldn't it?

I finished Half-Blood Prince at 2:00 am this morning. I cried a lot. Then went to the movies and saw a trailer for the Goblet of Fire movie and started sobbing uncontrollably... I'm always a mess when I finish a Harry Potter book. It's as though a chapter of my life has just ended... like graduating high school all over again. I know there's still one more... but there's ONLY one more. And then it's over for real
Here are pictures from the midnight release party from last friday (the 16th) night.
(I realize the pictures never actually uploaded the first time so here they are. Sorry about that)

Start spreading the news...
|
|
Tomorrow is the day we've all been waiting for! Tonight I'm going to a midnight release party for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the second-to-last installment! Apparently there shall be wand-making contests and face painting which I will not participate in but will surely watch and photograph (that is if they let me take pictures inside the store.) I'll probably only get 3 or 4 chapters read tonight since I'm such a slow reader... but it's also nicer to enjoy reading a book slowly rather than racing though it and missing a lot of stuff. I realized on tuesday night that I needed to reread the 5th book before tonight since, upon not being able to recall certain events that my friends were discussing, I needed a refresher course. Yeah. That worked well... I got to page 109 out of 500ish. Oh well... it's not like I'm being tested on it or anything. Any other Harry Potter fans out there?
Don't you think it's interesting that more people in the world recognize McDonalds' golden arches than recognize the cross? Weird that our universal language revolves around fast "food".
What are your pet peeves? I have too many to list because I am perhaps one of the most irritable people on the face of the earth. But some of them include (in no particular order):
- People who walk too slowly in front of you in the hallways (i'm all for making a minimum speed limit)
- People who say "I wish I was..." or "If I was..." It's "were", people! With "wish" and "if" ALWAYS use were! It's, like, in the bible!
- People who scrape their forks and knives on their plates and make that horrible, deathly sound that makes me want to scream
- When people borrow my books and then crack the spine or fold the cover backwards around the rear
- The Red Sox
- People who imply things and then, when confronted about it, completely deny they implied anything
- Claymation
- Poorly lit bathrooms. The lights are there for a reason... if I wanted to go to the bathroom in the dark, I'd turn them off!
Share yours and then maybe I won't sound so high-maintenance.

Orioles @ Yankees - July 5, 2005

Derek Jeter

My dad and I went to Yankee stadium to see them squash the Orioles 12 to 3! We sat in the first row of the upper deck so we were able to get great pictures.
Technological update:
I have recently acquired an iMac as a graduation present. We went shopping and I did research and I decided that because of the creative capabilities that I wanted to switch from Windows to Mac. I'm a little intimidated because I don't really know what I'm doing yet. I have to relearn a completely new operating system because I've been using Windows for over 10 years.
I also recently acquired a Canon Digital Rebel XT as a graduation present from my grandma. The jump from 2.1 megapixels on my old digital camera to 8 megapixels on my new digital camera has stunned me. I can't believe how much more spectacular my pictures are with the new camera!! My friend got the exact same camera as I did for graduation as well (except hers is black and mine is silver) so we're learning how to use it together. She's at least had a digital SLR before. I'm switching from my Olympus C-2020 Zoom compact so there's a lot of new stuff for me to learn. I'm still keeping my other camera because the fact that it fits in my purse is quite useful.
My computer that had been missing since November 30, 2004 was found by the dean of students after school had ended and they were cleaning up everything. It was found in the lost and found locker (which I looked in TONS of times during the school year and found nothing) which is a bit of a mystery. I'm still keeping my laptop so that I can take it back and forth between college and home (I'm commuting) because my iMac is a desktop and shall stay at home. I have Microsoft Office installed on the iMac so word documents and such can be transferred seamlessly.
I also got photoshop as a graduation present! I've been using it so much but called in to Adobe and am getting a mac CD so I can install it on my home computer. So I don't have it at the moment but the CD should be arriving shortly.

The Rent Clock
|
|
I made a clock! I made it for my friend's birthday because she loves the Broadway show Rent. It started out as a plain old piece of wood but a few coats of acrylic and mod podge later, it looks pretty good! I'm thinking of making a whole bunch of them for friends and maybe even to sell. Monty Python and Harry Potter clocks are expected to follow but I won't tell you who for incase they visit this site
